Our Story
We first crossed paths during our undergraduate degrees in applied mathematics, and our friendship has grown ever since. Our joint adventure into AI began with a research project tackling how it could solve complex, real-world problems. That project led us to build a healthcare chatbot to help with symptom diagnosis, sparking our passion for using AI as a force for good.

After several years immersed in AI research and development, we’re now both in the final stretch of our PhDs. Kieren is developing AI for synthetic biology and bioengineering, while Riku is exploring creative new ways to make AI more transparent and explainable.

In 2023, a year into our research, we realised a significant gap was opening between AI innovation and public understanding. Determined to bridge that divide, we launched Artificially Ever After. Our mission is to demystify the latest developments in AI in an accessible, non-technical way, showing how the technology is weaving its way into all corners of society. Along the way, we highlight its positive potential, unpack the ethical and societal challenges, and explore where AI might take us next.
